The PXW-X400 is an advanced shoulder-mounted camcorder that records a variety of professional broadcast-quality formats, including HD XAVC Intra 1080 59.94p/50p and XAVC Long GOP at 59.94p/50p. The camcorder offers exceptional weight balance and low power consumption, as well as unmatched network capabilities and high image quality. The redesigned body drastically reduces the load on the operator’s right arm and supports Sony viewfinders such as the QHD LCD CBK-VF02 and the optional Full HD OLED models HDVF-EL30 and HDVF-EL20.

The Sony PXW-X400KF Camera Kit with 16x Auto Focus Zoom Lens includes an ENG (Electronic News Gathering) style shoulder-mounted camera body with a 2/3" three-chip sensor and a 16x zoom lens.
The camera’s Exmor CMOS sensor block delivers high image quality and a high S/N ratio.
The PXW-X400 camcorder supports the Sony XAVC codec up to 1080/59.94p and 50p, in addition to MPEG and DVCAM formats.
Its user-oriented, optimized weight balance reduces fatigue when carrying this camcorder on your shoulder.
Image Sensor
Featuring a 2/3-inch three-chip Exmor CMOS sensor block, this camera achieves high resolution, high sensitivity (F12 at 60 Hz / F13 at 50 Hz), low noise (62 dB), and a wide dynamic range to better handle highlights while preserving detail in shadows.
Multi-Format Recording
The PXW-X400 camcorder offers a wide range of recording formats for various applications, including ENG, EFP (Electronic Field Production), and studio use.
Based on MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression, the XAVC codec supports the Full HD XAVC Long 4:2:2 1080/50p and 59.94p formats.
Built-in Wireless Module and ONLINE Button
To support efficient wireless news production workflows, the PXW-X400 camera includes a USB wireless dongle.
It also features an “ONLINE” button, located on the internal panel, which allows you to instantly activate functions such as Network Client Mode, Auto Proxy Upload, and Live Streaming.
Built-in RJ-45 Connector
This Ethernet connector provides a robust and fast network connection and can be used for file transfer, live streaming, and camera control via a web browser.
NFC (Near Field Communication) for Easy Wireless LAN Connection
An NFC function supports easy connection to launch the CBM (Content Browser Mobile) app on a smartphone or tablet.
This means you can skip complicated setup procedures.
I/O Interface
The dual 3G-SDI output allows for the simultaneous output of up to two 1080p50 / 59.94p signals.
The multi-purpose audio input accepts both analog audio signals and AES/EBU digital audio signals.
The SDI input for pool-feed operations allows you to insert and record 1.5GB HD/SD-SDI signals distributed from another camera.
Each connector is positioned separately, so there is no need to switch between input and output.
GPS Functionality
When activated, the built-in GPS receiver module records GPS data to an MXF file and a proxy file, and automatically overlays it onto the live streaming signal.
It is also useful for tracking shooting locations in post-production and when station staff need to map the location of a crew using the PWS-100RX1 receiver for streaming.
RGB Color LCD Display
The PXW-X400 camera is equipped with an RGB color LCD display on the internal panel.
In addition to thumbnails and menu displays, you can view and monitor video playback at QHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels).
