Exceptional quality with a large 1" sensor
The HXR-NX200's single 1-inch, 20-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor is approximately the same size as 16mm film sensors and is seven times larger than three 1/4.7-inch sensors combined. The main advantages of the large size are low noise and less blurry images; because more light penetrates the sensor, sharp and stable images can be obtained even in low-light conditions with a minimum illumination of 1.7 lux. In addition, the large sensor size allows you to achieve beautiful background blur (bokeh), so you can focus on the main subject while keeping the rest of the image out of focus.
Sony G Lens with 24x Clear Image Zoom (FHD)
A 29mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom makes it easy to capture wider panoramas and delivers superb clarity and sharpness, maximizing the performance of the NX200's large 1" sensor. The "G Lens" is Sony's family of camera lenses designed to high standards. In addition, your ability to get closer to distant scenes is aided by Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom function. Once zoomed in to the maximum optical magnification of 12x, By Pixel Super Resolution technology allows you to magnify the image by an additional factor of 150% in 4K and 200% in HD, while preserving image quality. In addition, zoom performance can be doubled at any time up to 24x with a Digital Extender.
Integrated ND filters
The built-in ND (Neutral Density) filter wheel includes the following positions: Clear, 1/4 (2 stops), 1/16 (4 stops) and 1/64 (6 stops). This makes it easy to take advantage of the shallow depth-of-field even in daytime outdoor shooting, without the need to mount a separate filter.
100Mbps multi-format recording in XAVC S 4K, HD and DV
The HXR-NX200 delivers superb all-round performance, no matter what workflow you use. For 4K and Full HD productions, the XAVC S format offers incredible picture quality as well as workflow flexibility and storage efficiency. Compared to AVCHD, XAVC S captures more detail and less noise at a higher bitrate without sacrificing support for major non-linear editors. The NX200 also offers HD recording in AVCHD or DV format, which are easy to integrate into existing content workflows. The NX200 offers frame rates in PAL-only 25p 4K:QFHD 3840×2160 50p, 50i, 25p Full HD and 50i SD formats.
Enhanced flexibility with two memory card slots
To extend recording time and workflow flexibility, the NX200 has two memory card slots and is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards. Relay mode (RELAY) automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full, while Simultaneous mode (SIMUL) allows you to record simultaneously to two memory cards (for example, to create a backup version on the fly). The two start and stop buttons on the NX200, one on the handle and one on the camcorder body, allow you to start and stop recording to different memory cards independently in "SIMU" mode.
