GY-HM850 - FHD Live Streaming shoulder camcorder
Product Features
The GY-HM850 shoulder camcorder model mounts 3 1/3" high-performance Full HD CMOS sensors, 1.03" effective and 2.0 megapixels, each capable of capturing 1920x1080 FHD resolution images. Featuring a 12-bit readout, excellent sensitivity of F12 (50Hz) and a remarkable signal-to-noise ratio, these devices deliver excellent color accuracy and reproduction with minimal aberration. To improve the performance of the CMOS sensor, flash band compensation has also been introduced.
The GY-HM850 comes standard with a 20x Fujinon zoom/wide-angle lens with autofocus and manual functions for excellent low-light performance. The lens is F1.6-3.0, with a focal range of 29mm-580mm (35mm equivalent), with servo zoom, manual focus and iris rings. Optical image stabilization and chromatic aberration correction are already provided in this 1/3" interchangeable bayonet lens. The standard optical image stabilizer (OIS) helps correct for lateral and vertical camera movement, ensuring that FHD images are sharp and stable. For users who prefer a manual lens, JVC offers a wide range of Fujinon and Canon lenses compatible with this camcorder.
With exceptional sensitivity and the LoLux ™ feature, the GY-HM850 produces outstanding images in a wide range of lighting conditions. Minimum illumination is less than 1 lux: 0.15lx (typical)*. JVC's unique LoLux function enables shooting in adverse lighting conditions. LoLux can be assigned to a USER button and set in the menu to offer + 30dB or + 36dB of gain. A convenient gain switch provides default gain values of -6dB, 0dB, +9dB. These switch positions can be adjusted to various gain levels from -6 dB to +24 dB. An ALC mode is also available to increase gain values from +6 dB to +24 dB. The GY-HM850's standard sensitivity is measured at F12 at 2,000 lux* (1920 x 1080 mode, F1.6, Lolux mode, shutter 1/30 or 1/25
The revolutionary FALCONBRID dual codec image processing engine, is JVC's high-speed processor for video applications . Providing enormous processing power on a single chip, the built-in FALCONBRID engine processes large amounts of video data at exceptional speeds. Along with this technology, superior image quality is realized with 2D DNR processing and compensation circuitry for a wide dynamic range. The GY-HM850 uses FALCONBRID dual codec processors, which allow it to record FHD to a memory card and stream live video to the web simultaneously. The camera is also capable of recording to two memory cards in two resolutions, one in FHD and one in SD, or to a small web file. Depending on the connection speed, small files can be transferred quickly, in real time, for delivery to websites or file sharing services.
Record FHD or SD movies directly into native files for Apple's Final Cut Pro, MOV QuickTime ready for post production. Recording native files ensures that your movie is ready for editing the moment it is shot, resulting in a more efficient workflow and no loss of image quality. For direct editing in other major NLE systems such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Grass Valley Edius Pro, you can also record XDCAM EX-compatible MP4 files for an equally transparent native workflow. H.264 SD MOV file can be edited by Grass Valley Edius Pro
It records MXF files with metadata for a highly efficient workflow, ideal for any TV broadcaster and news company. To ensure file interoperability with the widest range of broadcast production tools, JVC worked together with the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) to develop "AS-10: MXF for Productions," establishing a common MXF file format for a smoother end-to-end workflow. MXF files are supplemented with rich descriptive metadata, which is added before, during or after the shoot. The AS-10 MXF format is based on SMPTE RDD 9, the MXF interoperability specification of Sony's MPEG Long GOP (XDCAM) products.
Network connectivity via a USB 2.0 host connector, which supports an optional wired or wireless (Wi-Fi) network adapter or 3G/4G broadband USB stick. Various wireless communication functions are available via LAN, WAN or Internet connection: wireless remote control (with remote viewing) via smartphone, tablet or PC; metadata import and editing; secure FTP file transfer (clip); simple streaming (UDP or TCP) to single IP address; streaming with ARQ/FEC to cloud or physical server.
Through its own web interface, remote viewing of camera images and full remote, wireless camera control is possible when using a smartphone, tablet or PC. Extensive camera control includes: full Auto (on/off); AE level (setting); iris (manual/automatic); gain (ALC, dB setting, LoLux); shutter (off, manual, EEI); white balance (Preset, A, B, FAW); zoom (with Fujinon 20x); focus (auto, manual, setting, with Fujinon 20X); optical image stabilizer; LoLux; Zebra; Clip. Simultaneous live view and IP remote control allow for quick adjustments and zooming (when using the Fujinon 20X lens).
Zoom presets can also be recorded and deleted remotely, using the web browser. Live recording and streaming can also be activated remotely.
4-channel audio system, with two XLR audio inputs switchable between microphone (with phantom power support) and line input, plus stereo AUX inputs. Audio from each of these inputs can be assigned to an independent channel, allowing you to add external audio or field commentary. Versatile input switching and independent channel assignments allow both microphone and line-level sources (such as wireless receivers) to be connected, and phantom power is available on each XLR connector independently. Audio recording levels are automatically or manually controlled, with an audio level meter in the viewfinder and LCD monitor for easy monitoring.
Genlock input and Time Code input/output ideal for multi-camera productions. Time codes can be preset from the menu or can be input from an external TC generator, useful in isocam recording applications. The GY-HM850 can also be used as a master TC generator, providing a time code output for other cameras or audio recorders to synchronize to.
