The FX6’s 10.2MP image sensor features back-illumination for excellent performance in low-light conditions, 627 focal-plane points for fast phase-detection autofocus, and compatibility with full-frame lenses that produce a rich, immersive look. The sensor’s high scan speed minimizes shutter artifacts and supports high frame rates and rapid autofocus response.
15+ stops of dynamic range
The Exmor R sensor also enables the FX6 to capture over 15 stops of dynamic range in Cine EI mode with S-Log3, creating high-resolution, nuanced images.
Wide ISO range
Choose from a base ISO of 800, a high-sensitivity ISO 12,800 for low-light shooting, and a maximum ISO of 409,600 for extreme low-light conditions.
Electronically Variable ND Filters
Set the FX6’s built-in ND (Neutral Density) filter system to automatic for properly exposed shots even in changing light conditions, or manually adjust the ND filter density in increments from 1/4 to 1/128 while shooting; both options will produce properly exposed images without altering the chosen depth of field.
Advanced XAVC codec options
The FX6 is the first compact full-frame camera to offer UHD 4K 4:2:2 capture in the high-quality yet efficient XAVC-I codec. It also lets you choose from a range of professional XAVC Intra and XAVC Long codecs with bit rates ranging from 35 to 600 Mb/s.
High Frame Rate Options
For slow-motion effects and fast-paced action, choose from a full range of frame rates ranging from:
1–60 fps in resolutions from HD to DCI 4K
100 or 120 fps in HD up to UHD 4K
150, 180, 200, or 240 fps in Full HD
Expressive cinematic look
Sony’s S-Cinetone gamma curve delivers a cinematic look with film-like colors, softer tones, and natural skin tones. Not only is this cinematic look available for in-camera viewing, but it can also be captured and output with minimal or no grading for a time-saving post-production process. The S-Cinetone, S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3. Cine also simplify the process of matching FX6 footage with your VENICE or FX9 footage and offer extensive color grading options.
CFexpress Media Slots and Multiple Recording Modes
The FX6’s dual media slots accept both rugged, high-performance, high-capacity CFexpress Type A cards and widely available SDXC UHS-II / UHS-1 cards. Note that CFexpress Type A cards are required for UHD 4K capture at 100/120 fps and high-speed HD capture at 150/180/200/240 fps.
